DOCTORAL

The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) at IIT DHARWAD offers a dynamic Doctoral program in diverse areas of biological sciences and bioengineering, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics, Biomaterials, Environmental Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Microbiology, and infectious diseases. Established in 2017, the department aims to gets recognition for its cutting-edge research through publications, innovation and collaboration. Research activities at department are currently funded by DBT, SERB, ICMR, India Alliance, and CSIR.

Admissions for the PhD program take place twice annually, in July and December, through a rigorous selection process involving interviews and research proposals. Selected students complete relevant  coursework and a comprehensive examination to prepare for independent research.

BSBE encourages applications from passionate researchers, with fellowships, from agencies like CSIR, DBT, DST, ICMR, etc. The department also offer few scholarships to support doctoral studies.
